Human Resources Presents: From Peer to Manager: A Practical Workshop for New Managers – May 13, 2025
Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Time: 11:45am
Location: Terminal City Club, Skidmore Room, 837 Hastings St W, Vancouver BC V6C 1B6
You’ve been promoted into a manager role. Congrats! But also … welcome to the part nobody really trains you for: the shift where the strengths that made you successful as an individual contributor can sometimes get in your way, and where you go from “one of the team” to the person expected to set direction and have the hard conversations.
It’s a big transition, and it’s completely normal to wonder if you’re doing it right. Most new managers are figuring it out in real time, and there are a few approaches that can make things easier on you, and a whole lot faster.
This session is not a sit-and-listen lecture. It’s an interactive workshop led by Megan McAllister, a certified Leadership Coach and former National Head of Human Resources for a large law firm. Megan will guide you through short teaching segments, real examples, small group discussion, and practical tools you can use right away.
In 90 minutes, we’ll focus on a few high-leverage manager moves that tend to make an immediate difference, especially when you’re still finding your feet as a people leader:
Capped at 30 participants so we can keep it experiential, with plenty of room for dialogue and questions.
We hope to see you there!
