Description

Allen / McMillan Litigation Counsel is hiring an eDiscovery Paralegal to join our collaborative team and lead our firm’s eDiscovery processes.

AMLC is a litigation boutique located in downtown Vancouver with a focus on civil and commercial litigation. We pride ourselves on our independent thinking and commitment to excellence. In addition to providing clients with top quality work, we are driven to support our team members in living high-quality lives outside of the office.

The ideal candidate is looking for a full-time position and is willing to work onsite during regular business weeks with some flexibility. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, well-organized, have solid communication skills, and will not take her or himself too seriously. We have a tight-knit group that looks after one another. The successful candidate must play well with others and treat other team members with the utmost respect.

What the role entails:

  • Working closely with one of our senior, tech-savvy lawyers in a traditional support role
  • Leading our firm’s eDiscovery processes with support from our current eDiscovery paralegal
  • Assisting our team of lawyers with all aspects of the document collection, processing, review and production processes
  • Using litigation support and eDiscovery software (Everlaw)
  • Preparing lists of documents
  • Reviewing, summarizing, and organizing documents for discoveries and trial
  • Helping prepare for examinations for discovery, applications, and trial
  • Communicating with other team members, clients, opposing counsel and external vendors on eDiscovery and other file matters
  • Advising our team and clients on eDiscovery strategies
  • Helping with initiatives to improve our firm’s eDiscovery processes, checklists, templates and workflows

Our ideal candidate:

  • The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, has 3-5 years of experience in a similar role as well as clear understanding of both eDiscovery and litigation processes.
  • Our firm uses Everlaw as its eDiscovery software. Although direct experience with this software is not needed, preference will be given to candidates with an eDiscovery certification and clear proficiency with another eDiscovery program.
  • All candidates must have a strong working knowledge of legal software as well as Microsoft 365 software including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

Compensation:

In addition to a competitive starting salary from $85,000 to $95,000, we offer a truly collaborative work environment where employees feel comfortable being themselves, as well as enjoy the following benefits:

  • Annual staff bonuses
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Health benefits for you and your family, including dental care, orthodontic benefits for children, vision care, paramedical coverage with increased maximums for psychologists, therapists and counsellors
  • Access to life insurance, long term disability insurance and travel insurance
  • Access to onsite exercise equipment and shower facilities
  • Eligibility for our firm’s parental leave top up benefits
  • Professional growth opportunities including paid tuition for paralegal courses, access to CPD courses and other resources to help invest in your career growth
  • Generous paid time off including sick and personal days, vacation days and bonus days off during our December office closure and summer months
