Webster Hudson & Coombe LLP is a medium size law firm located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Established in 1994, our team of solicitors and litigators have an established record of creativity, sound judgment and professional expertise in a variety of practice areas. We pride ourselves in providing reliable and innovative legal services and are seeking a full time Director of Finance & Operations to join the WHC family.
This position reports directly to the Managing Partners and is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations and contributing to a positive and healthy work environment. It requires excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines. This role also works with the Human Resources Support and assists in planning firm events and staff appreciation activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Manage the daily activities of finance and office services
• Preparing monthly financial statements, budget and analysis
• Ensuring compliance with Law Society rules
• Remit taxes
• Processing two sets of payroll twice per month
• Liaise with benefit providers, update changes and ensure accuracy
• Review and sign off on trust and general bank reconciliations
• Partners’ equity accounting and capital accounts
• Prepare weekly cash flow projection
• Assist with external financial audits
• Assist with recruiting and onboarding of new staff
• Quarterly profitability analysis
• Recommend improvements and proficiencies
• Develop and maintain a highly motivated and congruent team
Qualifications:
• CPA designation or equivalent work experience
• Previous experience in a law firm would be preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ management experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong technical ability and ability to grasp new software quickly
• An ability to work well with lawyers, staff and clients
• Strong ability to multitask, establish priorities, work independently and
meet objectives
