Hours: Part-time, flexible, approximately 20 hours per month
Location: Remote / hybrid
Compensation: Competitive hourly contract rate commensurate with experience: anticipated range $75-$105

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We’re looking for a Complaints & Discipline Advisor to join CPHR BC & Yukon on a contract basis to support how we manage and review complaints about our members.
This is a unique role that sits at the intersection of professional designation, governance, and ethics. You’ll be the first point of contact for complaints, helping assess what’s been submitted, determining whether it aligns with our Code of Ethics, and supporting files as they move through our complaints process.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, writing, and judgment skills, along with experience in areas such as law, HR investigations, policy, governance, or a related field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complaint Intake and Review:
- Serve as a point of contact for complaints and related inquiries
- Review incoming complaints and supporting documentation
- Follow up with complainants to clarify details or request additional information as needed
- Assessment and Analysis:
- Assess complaints against the Code of Ethics
- Summarize key facts, issues, and relevant Code of Ethics provisions
- Identify whether complaints should proceed for further review
- Apply sound, balanced judgment when assessing each matter
- Case Coordination:
- Organize and maintain confidential complaint files
- Monitor timelines and ensure appropriate follow-up
- Support a consistent and fair approach across all files
- Committee Support:
- Prepare summaries, briefings, draft correspondence, and other meeting materials
- Provide process guidance and support next steps
- Process Improvement:
- Develop templates, tools, and practical process resources
- Help build a process that is accessible and transparent for members and the public
QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED SKILLS:
We are open to candidates from a range of professional backgrounds, including law, HR, investigations, governance, policy, or a related field. Professionals with relevant transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience (complaints handling, investigations, HR, governance, policy, legal, or similar)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent professional writing skills, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly and objectively
- Good judgment and the ability to navigate sensitive situations
- Familiarity with complaints, discipline, or ethics processes
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- A high level of professionalism and confidentiality
ASSETS (not required):
- Law degree, legal training or relevant practical experience
- Experience applying a code of conduct or policy framework
- Experience supporting committees or boards
- Experience in a professional association or member-based organization
