Who We Are Looking For
Boughton Law is currently recruiting for a junior to intermediate Corporate Services Clerk. Reporting to the Corporate Services Supervisor, this role supports the Corporate Services team with the preparation and handling of annual maintenance documents and a variety of other corporate records and administrative duties.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Open and distribute incoming mail within the Corporate Services Department
- Prepare annual maintenance documents (annual reports/returns, annual consent resolutions) for British Columbia companies and Federal corporations
- Sort returned annual reports/returns and collation of same for filing at corporate registry
- Attend to corporate registry filings including annual reports, changes of directors, and changes of registered/records office addresses
- Draft standard letters and documents and routine e-mail correspondence concerning annual maintenance using application software (Word, Outlook and ALF)
- Maintaining bring forward system
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established systems, processes, and best practices with consistency
- Prepare invoices and post time using Acumin accounting software
Qualifications
- Corporate records experience is an asset, and training will be provided for the right candidate
- Graduate of a Legal Administrative Assistant Program and/or legal experience in a similar position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent English oral and written skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to draft standard correspondence with minimum supervision
- Experience with corporate databases (ALF) and BC Online is an asset
- Able to communicate effectively with clients, lawyers and staff
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with billing/invoicing processes in a legal environment would be an asset
