We were established in 2012 and since that time we have grown to seven lawyers, an articled student, two paralegals and legal assistants to support our growing practice.

Position

Overholt Law is recruiting for a Director of Administration to work in our office. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Partner. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain accounting records as an internal bookkeeper to support the firm’s external bookkeeper and CPA in preparation of a monthly operations report and year end statements
  • Payment of all invoices from Vendors and Suppliers
  • Posting of all invoices, payments received and expenses
  • Trust Administration Fee filing and payment
  • Account for Depreciation and Prepaid expenses
  • Reconcile Trust, General/Petty Cash and Credit Card accounts;
  • Maintain executed monthly bank reconciliations in accordance with Law Society requirements
  • BC Online entries and reconciliation
  • Compliance filings
  • Manage Outlook email account
  • Annual Trust Declaration completion
  • Monthly billing of clients
  • Drafting annual budget
  • Process payment from Trust account
  • Communications with Landlord and IT service provider
  • CDIC Attestation

Qualifications

  • LAA Designation or equivalent work experience
  • Bookkeeping course completion and relevant certifications would be an asset
  • Experience working in the accounting department of a law firm would be an asset
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in using Microsoft Word
  • Experience with Filevine, Soluno, Adobe, BC Online and other software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication of skills

Compensation

  • Salary: $80,000 – $100,000
  • Extended health and group insurance plan (subject to meeting the eligibility requirements of the insurance company)
