Blakes Vancouver is currently recruiting for an eDiscovery Support Specialist to join our Litigation Department. Reporting to Litigation Partners, this role requires a candidate who will provide professional, efficient, and prompt service to our lawyers and clients.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and maintain litigation document management databases, which includes Relativity and other miscellaneous systems.
  • Scanning and coding client documents and preparing lists of documents and reliance lists for litigation and arbitration.
  • Intake and management of paper and electronic documents/data.
  • Work with and train lawyers, students, and staff on use of litigation support technology (ie. Relativity, etc.) and eDiscovery best practices.
  • Assist with document reviews and electronic redaction.
  • Preparation of eDiscovery estimates and budgets.
  • Uploading and downloading data through SFTP sites and copying data to and from USBs and other media.
  • Assisting with traditional paralegal functions, such as the preparation of court documents, handling of exhibits and transcripts, and other court and tribunal-related material.
  • Prepare electronic versions of Affidavits and exhibits, books of documents and litigation records (i.e. chambers records).
  • Troubleshoot inhouse eDiscovery issues.
  • Keep abreast of changes in law, practice directions and new litigation software applications.
  • Perform litigation searches.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with litigation document management software preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate or diploma preferred.
  • Experience with medium to large, complex litigation files will be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced technical skills and knowledge of databases, T-SQL language, and scripting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as effectively within a team.
  • Detail oriented; excellent organizational skills with the ability to work effectively under short deadlines in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong computer skills.  Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook.
