Description

What do we expect from you?

  • You will prepare, serve and file court documents such as Notices of Trial, Notice of Change of Lawyer, etc.
  • Schedule trial dates, discoveries, meetings, conferences and confirm dates with all involved parties as required.
  • Track deadlines to ensure compliance with court limitations.
  • You will open and maintain files, ensure policies and procedures are followed in accordance with firm guidelines, run conflict searches, deal with a large volume of emails, maintain calendars and bring forwards and prepare routine correspondence.
  • Provide administrative support, including preparation of monthly invoices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications and experience we are looking for?

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary LAA program or the real-world equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ of experience as a litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal;
  • Family law experience is an asset but not required;
  • Working knowledge of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices and procedures as well as filing deadlines;
  • The ability to work overtime if required;
  • Experience in Adobe, MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Ability to look after all accounting matters, including sending out invoices, and following up on accounts receivables
