What do we expect from you?
- You will prepare, serve and file court documents such as Notices of Trial, Notice of Change of Lawyer, etc.
- Schedule trial dates, discoveries, meetings, conferences and confirm dates with all involved parties as required.
- Track deadlines to ensure compliance with court limitations.
- You will open and maintain files, ensure policies and procedures are followed in accordance with firm guidelines, run conflict searches, deal with a large volume of emails, maintain calendars and bring forwards and prepare routine correspondence.
- Provide administrative support, including preparation of monthly invoices.
- Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications and experience we are looking for?
- Successful completion of a post-secondary LAA program or the real-world equivalent;
- Minimum of 5+ years’ of experience as a litigation legal assistant and/or paralegal;
- Family law experience is an asset but not required;
- Working knowledge of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices and procedures as well as filing deadlines;
- The ability to work overtime if required;
- Experience in Adobe, MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
