This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced litigation environment and wants to be part of a respected team. Our firm continues to grow, so we are currently searching for a Junior Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Vancouver office. 

This role is a great opportunity for a junior legal assistant to grow with the firm starting in a Floater position and eventually advancing with your own team and file load.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and is adept at setting priorities
  • Strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Organization and time management skills
  • The capability to be an energetic self-starter who initiates and anticipates needs
  • A passion for providing superior client service
  • The ability to creatively solve problems, make decisions, facilitate and manage deadlines
  • The dexterity to remain calm under pressure
  • The aptitude to work both independently and within a team
  • The capability to work full-time Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
  • The availability to work in the office a minimum of three (3) days per week

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate calendars, manage and schedule meetings and appointments
  • Prepare, draft, format, and review various correspondence and documents
  • Open and close client files and maintain accurate records
  • Conduct searches and conflict checks
  • Maintain efficient file management and BF system
  • Liaise with Legal Assistants, Paralegals, other Lawyers, and clients on file progress
  • Assist with vacation coverage for Legal Assistants
  • Cross-train on Office Services duties including, but not limited to, mail, couriers, faxes, service emails and provide vacation coverage

Qualifications:

  • A graduate from a recognized Legal Administration Assistant, Paralegal and/or Law Clerk program
  • Knowledge of legal principles, practices and rules of court
  • 1-2 years litigation experience, preferably in insurance defence
  • Exceptional technical skills with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability using electronic file management systems, preferably iManage
