The Legal Administrative Assistant will have the following combination of skills and experience: 

 

  • exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication abilities 

  • detail-oriented with strong proof-reading skills 

  • digitally enabled/engaged and comfortable with using and learning technology 

  • demonstrated strength in time management and organizational skills  

  • strong understanding of law-firm processes 

  • creative approach to problem-solving  

  • ability to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team 

  • experience working in a law firm environment 

  • ability to draft basic legal documents and general correspondence 

  • certificate in a legal administrative training program or equivalent educational experience 

  • comfortable working with Indigenous communities  

  • commitment to First Peoples Law’s principles and objectives 

  • a sense of humour 

 

Description of Position 

 

The Legal Administrative Assistant will manage reception duties in our Vancouver office and provide legal administrative support to our team. 

 

The Legal Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibilities will include: 

 

  • welcoming clients and visitors to the office  

  • reception duties and general office administration 

  • sending/receiving couriers and other deliveries 

  • maintaining common areas, boardrooms and meeting spaces 

  • supporting lawyers with basic drafting and formatting of legal documents and correspondence 

  • filing court documents  

  • managing client and file information 

  • planning and coordinating team social events  

  • scheduling meetings and booking travel for team members 

  • ad hoc duties as required 

 

The Legal Administrative Assistant will work on a full-time basis, primarily out of our Vancouver office.  Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
