Mandell Pinder LLP is looking for an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant who will use their exceptional skills, attention to detail and proactive working style to assist the legal team with a wide variety of tasks across practice areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and passionate LAA looking for a diverse position to thrive in.
Responsibilities and Duties
Your primary duty will be to take ownership of and assist lawyers with the day-to-day legal administrative tasks such as:
- Filing and tracking documents with court registries and various regulatory bodies;
- Scheduling appointments, discovery and maintaining calendars;
- Managing diarization system for deadlines;
- Drafting, proofing, revising and formatting correspondence;
- Communicating with clients;
- Revising or identifying and drafting documents from precedents, including affidavits, application records, books of authorities and appeal records;
- Assembling document lists, trial books, expert reports and other required documentation;
- Attending to billing and assisting with collection of accounts receivable;
- Opening, closing and maintaining files both physically and electronically and ensuring organization of electronic filing system;
- Creating and updating funding documents and spreadsheets;
- Assisting with annual maintenance for law corporations;
- Support special projects, vacation coverage, telephone coverage and other duties as may be required.
Qualifications
- Legal Administrative Assistant certification from an accredited BC institution;
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience;
- Knowledge of court rules and registry procedures in Canada, and specifically Federal, BC provincial and BC Supreme Court;
- Ability to research rules and procedures of various regulatory bodies;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail imperative;
- Experience with MS 365 and Adobe Pro needed and Soluno, BC Online, litigation, document assembly and document management software preferred;
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-focused environment, including taking instructions well and being proactive, as needed;
- Familiarity with Aboriginal law, specific claims or corporate law an asset.
