Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated Wills and Estates Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team long term. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support to our legal team in all aspects of wills, trusts, probate, and estate planning matters.
Experience & Training:
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, with a focus on Wills and Estates
- Proficiency in relevant legal software and databases
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and client interaction abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines
- Certificate or degree in Paralegal Studies preferred
Responsibilities:
- Organize and prepare client files, including the initiation of Wills and Estate files, updating client information, managing diary systems, handling general inquiries, and maintaining orderly filing.
- Type and proofread various legal documents, such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, Representation Agreements, and Advance Directives.
- Prepare and submit estate grant applications to the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
- Manage calendars and support time management for our legal team.
- Handle email and telephone inquiries efficiently.
- Updating and improving office organization systems.
- Assist in other areas as required, including corporate and uncontested family law.
- 40 hours per week.
