I have had lots of staff working a 4-day work week. It is best to approve them on a case-by-case basis. Some lawyers simply need their staff there every day. This can lead to some discontent when a particular position cannot be adjusted to 4 days per week. I have found that it works best for non-LAA staff, unless the LAA is formally teamed with another LAA who has capacity. It works quite well for corporate records clerks, general office clerks, paralegals and admin staff. The other issue is the distribution days off across the week. Not everyone can have monday or friday. Some flexibility may be required to ensure coverage for other staff member vacation days. I would also only approve it conditionally for the first 3 or 4 months to see how the office manages. You want to ability to rescind the arrangement if it is too disruptive.
