Forte Workplace Law is hiring an experienced CPA to manage the financial health and build business strategy for our growing and innovative workplace law practice.

Our firm’s values are heart, courage and kindness.  We are a team of leaders, and everyone’s voice and contributions are valued equally.  We prioritize wellness and a sustainable pace.  We care for each other, our clients and our community, and we have a lot of fun.

The Position

As part of a finance team of two, we are looking for a CPA to lead compliance, reporting and financial strategy for our business, including:

  • Trust accounting;
  • Bank reconciliation and cash flow management;
  • Payroll and employer remittances;
  • GST/PST filings;
  • Budgeting & forecasting;
  • Law Society reporting and audit management;
  • Oversight of bookkeeper;
  • Oversight of practice management software, currently Soluno;
  • Preparing financial reports and filings;
  • Develop data collection processes to enable new analysis capabilities; and
  • Leading data-driven strategic initiatives;
  • Key member of innovation committee.

This is a part-time, flexible position, with a combination of in office and remote work.  This could also be a full-time position for a candidate with broader experience and interests to lead in other areas of operations.

The ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate loves compliance and accurate reporting but doesn’t get lost in the weeds, enjoys transforming data into information, being involved with innovation and business strategy, and has the following qualifications and experience:

  • CPA designation;
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience post-designation (ideally with industry experience);
  • Motivated to work independently and take ownership of this role as a key support to the Founder;
  • Share our firm values of heart, courage and kindness; and
  • Confident in using technology and learning new systems.

To fit in here, you need to be a “people person” (introvert or extrovert is fine) with high emotional intelligence and a fundamental respect for coworkers, clients, and our communities.

We know that we can serve our community best by reflecting its diversity.  We welcome applications from candidates who add value to our team through their lived experiences, culture, and languages, and from members of groups that are underrepresented in the profession.
