Description

Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a Real Estate/Banking Paralegal to work in the Vancouver office. This position will appeal to candidates who thrive in a high-performance culture, supporting the fast-paced, established Real Estate and Banking Groups.

Duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Real Estate

  • Responsible for conducting searches of title, property tax searches, and dealing with municipal offices for off-site title diligence searches
  • Arrange for title insurance policies
  • Draft and complete organizational documents, closing documents, financing documents, caveats and other land titles documents
  • Draft diligence reports for clients, monitor and report on due diligence for transactions
  • Involvement in all aspects of a closing, including scheduling, expediting items to meet deadlines, coordinating receipt of closing documents and funds, reviewing/revising final closing documentation, conducting and verifying final title search requirements and completing the registration of documentation
  • Organize and maintain post-closing matters and preparing closing Record Books
  • Play a key role in problem solving and liaising with clients and solicitors in charge of transactions

Banking

  • Responsible for conducting searches of title and due diligence searches
  • Arrange for title insurance policies, preparing title reports and detailed title memorandum
  • Draft diligence reports for clients, monitor and report on due diligence for transactions
  • Draft correspondence to clients and financial institutions
  • Involvement in all aspects of closing, including scheduling, expediting items to meet deadlines, coordinating receipt of closing documents and funds, reviewing/revising final closing documentation, conducting and verifying final title search requirements and completing the registration of documentation
  • Organize and maintain post-closing matters and preparing closing Record Books
  • Complete transaction work including handling uniform commercial filings, loan documents, stock transfers, board minutes, and general corporate matters
  • Assist with loan transactions, mortgages and lien related filings, corporate transactions which includes formation, venture capital investments, and mergers and acquisitions

Skills and Experience Required

  • Paralegal certification from a recognized program
  • 3+ years of experience in a law firm
  • Knowledge of Land Titles Act, statutes, rules and regulations applicable to real property law
  • Strong technical skills, proficient in the Microsoft office suite, and experience with commercial real estate software
  • Ability to correspond with clients, government and quasi-governmental officials in a fair and professional manner
  • Exceptional written and communication skills, meticulous with details and follow-up
  • Highly organized, take initiative, prioritize with the ability to multi-task and juggle multiple files in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the flexibility to accommodate work demands
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a national team
  • Demonstrate good judgment and utmost professionalism at all times and particularly when working under pressure

The salary bands provided reflect the typical range for this role in the region indicated. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of experiences and skills, and final compensation will be thoughtfully determined based on individual qualifications and current market factors. Please note that salary will be discussed and negotiated during interview.

Vancouver: $85,000 - $100,000
