We are currently looking for a full-time, permanent Trust Accounting Supervisor.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to work in a positive and supportive environment with a great group of people.

Standard Responsibilities: 

  • Distribute tasks appropriately to ensure balanced workloads among the team;
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with various tasks as needed;
  • Processing a large volume of trust cheques and deposits;
  • Maintenance of investment accounts at all the major banks;
  • Real estate closings and payouts;
  • Preparation and posting wire and EFT payments and transfers;
  • Monthly trust bank reconciliations;
  • Tracking and reporting quarterly TAF remittance;
  • Keeping accurate, organized records both electronically and paper;
  • Ensuring that firm policies and control procedures are being met at all times;
  • Assisting the team with various special projects and department initiatives;
  • Ensuring that all transactions are processed in strict accordance with the LSBC Trust Accounting rules; and
  • Other various accounting functions as needed.

 Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or equivalent work experience with basic accounting procedures;
  • 3 or more years of accounting experience in a law firm or professional services firm;
  • Understanding trust accounting processes, provincial law society rules and ensuring compliance;
  • Experience using Soluno/ActionStep) an asset;
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word;
  • Strong technical aptitude;
  • Detail oriented, methodical, well organized, with quick and efficient data entry skills;
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives under minimal supervision;
  • Desire to learn, initiate changes and to assume additional responsibilities as time progresses; and
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
